This Monthly Mix came into being on a coffee-filled afternoon with the help of two turntables plus a mixer and was recorded via DAT, which uniquely captures the vinyl sound dynamics. Afterwards it was transferred par for par into the computer without any further digital editing. It is a mix you would like to hear in a club, beggining oddly but with a track so nice it simply has to be shared, then slowly increasing towards dancefloor-music, finding its climax there and finally coming to a playful ending. No record being used is older than three months and they are all varieties of UK-House & Bass-music, currently the most entertaining dance-music, with a few eastern European additions.
Radio&Fernseh loves music, buys plenty of records but doesn’t feel the urge to play every week.

I woke up this morning, with a slight hungover, to find an email in the inbox from Gordon of Project: Mooncircle telling me he had a guest mix for us. Always a pleasant surprise when good friends of ours get in touch like this, even more when it’s someone like Gordon who we’ve worked with for years now ever since the beginnings of both Rhythm Incursions and Project: Mooncircle back in the early/mid 00s. Regular listeners will no doubt be familiar with the label’s output – releases from the label are a common feature in our monthly shows and we’ve had quite a few of their artists guest on the show in the past (click here for a run down). So to finally have Gordon, the man behind the label, step up for a guest mix is nice. Actually if memory serves me right Gordon did do a guest spot for us back in 05 when Waxfactor presented the first Project:Mooncircle special which was also one of the first podcasts we did, back when Rhythm Incursions was a bi weekly show on Resonance FM. So nearly 6 years on (damn time flies) Gordon steps up again with a selection across the board featuring the likes of Headshotboyz, Shlohmo, Lapalux, Teebs, Quendolinfender, Capella, Coco Bryce, fLako, Koreless, DZA, Luisterwaar, Ital Tek, Jehst, Joe Kickass, Killing Skills, CYNE, Gards From KC, Evil Ed and more… The mix features a fair few unreleased/forthcoming bits and there is no tracklist aside from the above artists mention.

Up next they’ve got some tasty offerings from fLako and DZA as well as a Mike Gao LP coming in the summer. 40 Winks is an instrumental hip hop group made up of two producers - padmo' and weedy - from Antwerp, Belgium. The guys release their material through notorious Project: Mooncircle label, which is going to launch new 40 Winks LP It's The Trip in the middle of April. And before that we got their mix A Trip. As supposed to be, you can get a selection of starters from 40 Winks own menu, complimented with stuff from their label mates and served with some fat names from the scene in general. And for the dessert mix goes with some nice and rear jazz tracks. So A Trip is yet another classic Monday's delight. Artwork by Justin Bryan Nelson!

Die Soundcloud-DJ-Sets-Instanz schlechthin R_Co hat pünktlich zum Wochenende ein paar Sets hochgeladen, die es für ein ausgedehntes Wochenende zu empfehlen gilt. Nummer eins ist DJ Sneak, der seinen jackigen und äußerst funkigen Houseentwurf über zwei Stunden entfalten lässt bis er mit dem großen Daft Punk-Gewitter zum Schluss auch den letzten auf der Tanzfläche in seinen Bann zieht. Weitaus 'deeper' und auf seine Art auch 'rauher' folgt Prosumer mit seinem Beitrag zu Tim Sweeneys Beats In Space-Sendung, der drei Jahrzehnte House-Geschichte in höhere Sphären befördert (Tracklist hier). Das Highlight aber ist der oben verlinkte Mitschnitt aus dem guten alten Techno-Tempel Omen, in dem Laurent Garnier anno 1996 ein amtliches Techno, Acid und Breakbeat-Feuerwerk abbrennt. Rough, rugged & raw wie man es mag. Ein schönes Wochenende!

Gestern an selber Stelle: der House-Messias aus Detroit, Heute an dieser Stelle: Sein vielleicht größter (deutscher) Jünger, Danilo Plessow, dem Einem oder Anderen vielleicht auch als Motor City Drum Ensemble bekannt. Wenn nicht, dem darf ich zur Lektüre und Stopfung vielleicht vorhandener Gewissenslücken den Artikel des Kollegen Aigner ans Herz legen.
Für die Kollegen von XLR8R wiederum hat Danilo Plessow die neue Episode des hauseigenen Podcast zusammengestellt, der überraschenderweise eine Menge Klassiker zwischen Nervous, Warehouse und Nu Groove bereithält. Sehr schön das.

Hervorragende DJ-Sets gibt es ohne Frage tagtäglich nur zu Hauf im Netz, wenn aber einer der seltenen Auftritte des Großmeisters Kenny Dixon Jr. aus Detroit als Mitschnitt erscheint, dann horcht die Netzgemeine auf, in, ab und auch down und sichert sich den Gral am besten so schnell wie möglich und soweit noch verfügbar. So auch im folgenden Fall mit einem herrlichen DJ Set von Moodymann aus den späten 90ern. I cant't get this feeling when it hits. Can you?

Viele werden es mitbekommen haben, dass gewisse Autoren bei HHV der Liebe zu House, Disco und dem ganzen Edit-Wahn verfallen sind. Diese Liebe führt an langweiligen Sonntagnachmittagen zu endlosen Soundcloudstunden, der Sichtung und dem Genuss etlicher neuer Housetracks und Artverwandtem und vor allem im Aufnehmen spontaner Sets, die den Output der vergangenen Wochen von favorisierten Künstlern wie The Revenge, KRL, Eric D. Clark und verschiedener obskurer Edits und Remixe zwischen Toto und Tina Turner sowie Chris Rea zum Thema haben. Viel Spaß damit. For home-listening pleasure.
