Die Releasereihe aus der Heimstätte der Beatbastlerelite Brainfeeder bricht auch im Juni nicht ab. Am 24.06. erscheint nun Sam Baker’s Album von Samiyam. Der Produzent aus Ann Arbor, Michigan, ist schon länger aus dem Schatten seines Mentors Flying Lotus getreten, mit dem er unter dem Namen FLYamSAM mehrere Compilations veröffentlichte, und gehört in Los Angeles inzwischen zum festen Clan der lokalen Beatcommunity. Seine Karriere, die innerhalb seiner Schlafzimmerwände mit einer iTunes EP begann, kam durch den Kontakt mit FlyLo über dessen MySpace Seite ins Rollen. Auf seinem Debüt Rap Beats Vol. 1 setzte Samiyam mit der SP-303 aus den Neunzigern inspirierte Samples wie aus Nintendo Videospielen oder italienischen Kinofilmen über Soundlandschaften aus Hip, Hop, Funk, Soul und Dubstep zusammen.

This event is officially kicking off our artist-network “Finest Ego” (http://www.finestego.com), a new platform and community for up-and-coming young and innovative producers and music-lovers in and around the constantly changing and evolving bass music continuum.
On March 19th and 20th, some of the most active and prolific international producers as well as unknown young talents from all around Europe will come together in the club “Chez Jacki” (Maria am Ostbahnhof) on the banks of the river Spree. Whilst, on Saturday afternoon, renowned producers will host workshops and give insight into their music creation process and production-techniques, the programm for the evening is filled with exclusive live-acts on both days. Robot Koch, fLako, Blue Daisy, Comfort Fit and the two Flying Lotus proteges Teebs and Jeremiah Jae represent the future of hiphop in a fascinating unique way and have developed a new sound, which at the same time ties in 30 years of hiphop tradition, whilst also connecting to the abstract structures of electronic music and the depth of clubmusic. Teebs, Blue Daisy and Jeremiah Jae have never before played live in Germany and are visiting Berlin exclusively for the “Finest Ego Weekend”.
Central part of the event is the “Beatmaker Challenge”, which gives young producers the opportunity to not only showcase their music in front of an international live-audience but to also win studiogear from Native Instruments, Clothing / Headphones from Wesc, Acrylick, Mishka and a record deal with Finest Ego Records and Project: Mooncircle.

Hast du Mr. Oizo's 2005er Album "Moustache - Half A Scissor" noch auf dem Schirm? Das komplette Werk gab's bis dato leider nur auf CD, doch dank Brainfeeder ist damit ab Ende der ersten KW 2011 Schluss, dann erscheint endlich die Vinylversion des vielgefeierten Experimental House/Techno-Monuments. Der einst von F Communications veröffentlichte, 17 Beiträge umfassende Longplayer ist immer noch ein Dancefloor-Magnet par excellence und hat in einem halben Jahrzehnt nichts von seinem Charme eingebüßt – schön, dass auch eingefleischte Vinyl-Enthusiasten in Kürze "Moustache - Half A Scissor" in voller Länge genießen können.
Für Leute, die sich intensiv mit dem LA-Szene der letzten Jahre beschäftigt haben, ist Teebs kein Unbekannter: Der Mann ist ein begnadetes Multitalent, das an der Leinwand oder auf dem Rollbrett auch seinen Mann steht, aber an dieser Stelle eher wegen seiner Skills als Produzent ein Feature ergattert hat. Sein Debütalbum "Ardour" bietet eine klasse umgesetzte Klanglandschaft aus infektiösen Melodien, relaxten HipHop-Tempi und vibigen Trips, die eine Soundtrack-ähnliche Qualität aufweisen. Du hörst einen Song, hast sofort ein Bild im Kopf und gibst dich der Musik mit Haut und Haaren hin. Genau so muss es sein, darum passt dieses Werk auch perfekt aufs Flying Lotus-Label Brainfeeder.
Holy fuck, wie geil ist das denn? Next up: your local Panflöten-Hustlers covering "Flat Beat". Der Fly Lo Remix ist mittlerweile out of print, aber wer damals zu spät kam, vergleicht hier.
Während alle aber dermaßen gespannt auf "Cosmogramma", Flying Lotus' zweite Langspielrille für Warp warten (VÖ: 3. Mai), verkürzt Warp die Wartezeit mit drei Tracks, die den Cut nicht geschafft haben. Inkusive des völlig irren "Quakes":
Vor dem diesjährigen Sonar eher als Brainfeeder-Sidekick wahrgenommen, ist Gaslamp Killer mittlerweile in aller Munde.
