James "Dewitt" Yancey besser bekannt als J. Dilla galt schon zu Lebzeiten
als einer der höchst gehandelten Produzenten im Hip Hop Universum. Seine
ersten erfolgreichen Gehversuche unternahm er mit Q-Tip & Ali Shaheed
Muhammad (A Tribe Called Quest) unter dem Pseudonym The Ummah. Dieses
Trio war Mitte der 90er durch ihren einzigartigen Soul Produktionsstil
besonders bei Künstlern wie Erykah Badu, D'Angelo, De La Soul, Busta
Rhymes, Common und The Roots sehr geschätzt. Bis dato arbeitet das
Produzenten Wunderkind eher im Hintergrund.

Mit seinem ersten Album Welcome 2 Detroit auf BBE Records begann Dilla langsam seinen Namen
bekannter zu machen. 2003 war das Jahr in dem nun keiner mehr an Dilla
vorbeikam. Mit Ruff Draft schrieb er Produzentengeschichte und setzte
sich durch seine späteren Alben Donuts, The Shining und Champion Sound
(Gemeinschaftsprojekt mit Madlib) endgültig ein Denkmal. Nur 3 Jahre
später (2006) verlor die Welt einen ihrer kreativsten und prägendsten Hip
Hop Produzenten aller Zeiten. Vorzeigeproduzenten der neuen Ära wie
Flying Lotus, Onra, Flako, Fulgeance oder Mr. Dibiase nennen Dilla als ihr größtes Vorbild.

6 Jahre nach seinem Tod finden sich wiedereinmal Djs, Künstler &
Liebhaber seiner Werke zusammen, um im Rahmen der Dilla Dokumentation
von Shernay Latouche (Nike, DSL55) aus London, die Dillafahne für Berlin hochzuhalten.
Auf der Vernissage wird Shernay Latouche dann alle
beteiligten Gäste, Djs & Künstler auf Film verewigen und zeigen wie
Berlin diesen einmaligen Produzenten und seine Arbeit würdigt.
Am 25.02.2012 wird endlich Berlin seinen Platz auf der für
2013 angekündigten Dokumentation einnehmen.

Neben exklusiven Bildern und Fotostrecken werden natürlich die
unzähligen Dillaproduktionen zu hören sein. Dafür verantwortlich sind
u.a. The Smells, Suff Daddy, Dister, Boo, LeBob, Hazeem und andere
Dillafanatiker, um der Welt zu zeigen wie tief die Verbundenheit der
Arbeiten von James "Dewitt" Yancey in Berlin verwurzelt ist.

ist der Blog von Rob Heppler. Der Junge hat es vom "kleinen" Blogger/Podcaster der "TheWeeklyDrop" Serie in die großen Werbe- und PR Agenturen geschafft, u.a. arbeitete er für Wieden + Kennedy in Portland (Nike).
Der Blog ist ein buntes Sammelsurium aus den meist kuriosen Stories aus seinem Leben. Sie drehen sich irgendwie alle um moderne Kunst, Musik, Streetwear, Sport - meistens aber mit einem sehr verrückten Unterton .

Immer wieder lustig zu sehen, was ihm so alles einfällt/passiert.....

Das Thema ist in aller Munde. Nach 23 Jahren Zwischennutzung zur Immobilienentwicklung wird der Klub der Republik in der Pappelallee im Prenzlauer Berg zum Monatsende geschlossen und desinfiziert.

Aus diesem Anlass gibt Jenz Steiner morgen im Klub der Republik in der Pappelallee ein Abrisskonzert.

Los geht es pünktlich 20:30 Uhr.

A while has passed since our last compilation has been released but just in time for the 2011 holiday season Project: Mooncircle and Finest Ego bring you the already fifth edition of our acclaimed compilation series. Shifting focus towards central Europe, we find the three countries Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Sharing lots of their historical and cultural heritage, this copious collection contains work from producers of a wide range of musical manifestations – all located in the spectrum between traditional sample-based and organic sound to electronic and experimental compositions. Grown up in the nineties with the organic sounds from across the big pond and a long tradition of electronic music in the German speaking world, this compilation showcases the fusion of electronic and classical soulful organic elements in the beat scene. The sound is as diverse as the country and its people, from Spaetzle to Klopse and from HipHop to Techno, on this compilation you can find Boombap from the likes of Brenk & Suff Daddy but also electronic sounds from the likes of Robot Koch and Bit Tuner as well as atmospheric sonical waves from Glenn Astro and Anthony Drawn.

ist der Blog von Dante Ross, seinerseits Hip-Hop Legende der 90er. Er produzierte für einige Klassiker wie Brand Nubian und Busta Rhymes und war als A&R bei Elektra u.a. für die Signings von MF Doom, Busta, Grand Puba und Pete Rock & CL Smooth verantwortlich. Nebenher hatte er eine eigene Kolumne in der Mass Appeal und Village Voice. Heutzutage ist er A&R für Warner Records, kurz gesagt - der Mann weiß, wovon er redet.

Er hat auch immer ganz nette Stories und Blicke hinter die Kulissen der Musik- und Streetwear-Welt am Start.....hier mal Action Bronson im Schlafzimmerstudio in BKLYN, ein alter Def Jam Promoshoot und Danny Boy und Bobby Hundreds in Pose.

We are very pleased to announce our guests for our upcoming Monthly Trip on the 19th of November! RBMA alumni kidkanevil (UK) and Amenta (Canada) will perform together at Panke, Berlin. Being the first time kidkanevil plays in Berlin and one of the rare occasions to see him and Amenta perform together, we can expect futuristic beats between avantgarde Electronica and organic HipHop in combination with Amenta's folky and soulful voice. Supporting DJs will be DJ Werd, Radio&Fernseh and Malte.

While kidkanevil, also being a member of Stateless (Ninja Tune), already released three albums, a remix album, plus various other projects on First Word Records (working together with such artists as Bonobo, Jehst, Lateef, Andreya Triana, Illum Sphere, Mr Thing, Natural Self, DJ Vadim & Yarah Bravo amongst many others), Amenta has just released her first very well received deput EP "Sacred Places" on the same label. However, in her music-career she has already worked with such prolific producers as Blue Daisy, Mau’Lin, fLako, kidKanevil, Om Unit, Clinic, Lost Twin and Throwing Snow, most of whom can also be found on her EP.

Puma Re-Suede

Puma Re-Suede ist der Name des guten Gewissens in geschätzter Old School-Optik. Das mit Ultrasuede betitelte Obermaterial besteht komplett aus recycelten Polyesterfasern, die in einem speziellen Wiederverwertungsverfahren aus Altstoffen gewonnen werden und es ermöglicht haben, Energieverbrauch und CO²-Emissionen um 80% zu verringern. Es kommt noch besser: Bei der Außensohle wurde das inovative Double R Rice Rubber eingesetzt, bei dem ein Teil des Kautschuks durch ein aus Reis gewonnenes Nebenprodukt der Nahrungsmittelindustrie ersetzt wurde, wodurch wiederum Energie gespart werden konnte. Durch diese neuen Herstellungsverfahren konnte das Gewicht des Puma Re-Suede um 140 g reduziert werden. Zum Konzept passt auch, dass dieses Modell in Pumas Clever Little Bag ausgeliefert wird, die man im Gegensatz zum ordinären Schuhkarton auch nach dem Auspacken noch gerne verwendet.

"From Love To Dust" is a two side EP of Barry Gordon, Ireland / UK based producer. He grew up listening to classic rock like Led Zeppelin & Rolling Stones and played in several bands. Barry fell in love with hip-hop after hearing Wu - Tang Clan for the first time, and started making music as Sina. in 2009. He owns and plays many different music instruments and has got a wide range of music influences, anything from blues and folk, to ambient and hip - hop.

The 6 track EP, set to drop in November, bleeds creativity, with influences from all aspects of music being incorporated in the works of Sina. He lets you submerge, full body, into impeccably produced, brittle clean sound with amazing groove control, touching and emotional. Thus, From Love To Dust never bores and features remixes of Switzerland rising star producer Gards From KC, UK beat smith Kelpe, and UK-based producer Soosh, who has had a collab with Gards From KC for Project: Mooncircle earlier this year.

J.A.W goes live on October 31 for a very special one and presents - for the first time in Berlin - the amazing Robert Glasper & his Experiment.

With his new coming album 4th one, to be released early next year for the legendary Blue Note Records Label, the 32 year-old Houston native pianist is definitely recognized today as one of the most gifted musicians of this jazz/hip-hop era. His Band - The Experiment - is continually stretching the boundaries of jazz & hip-hop, often exploring i.e. new interpretations of genius Beat Maker J Dilla (RIP) or Radiohead songs.

If you´re lucky enough to catch him live in his hometown NYC or on the road, you won´t be surprised to see prestigious guests sharing the stage with the Experiment - such as Mos Def & Q-Tip (Glasper being their musical director), his mate Bilal, Pete Rock, Mf Doom, Pharoahe Monch or even Roy Ayers. His work with these musicians and legendary producer J Dilla has contributed to build his solid reputation as a jazz pianist with a strong hip-hop sensibility.

For this one, The Experiment will be consisted of Glasper himself on keys, the impressive Mark Colenburg on drums (Q Tip, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill - known for his ridiculous laid-back style like his mate Chris Dave) Derrick Hodge on Bass (composer/performer with hip hop lyricist Common Sense, Jill Scott, Maxwell, Terrance Blanchard�) & Casey Benjamin on alto saxophone & Vocoder.
